A Brief History of Oak Beach, Located in the Town of Babylon, Long Island, Suffolk County, NY

Oak Beach’s First Cottage was Built in 1879 By a Man Named Henry Livingston and within Only 20 Years It Became a Popular Spot for Summer Tourists. Prior to 1879 the Land was Undeveloped. Visitors Would Travel to Oak Beach from Long Island by Ferry to Visit their Summer Homes Prior to the Construction of the Robert Moses Causeway in the 1950’s.  

Oak Beach is Great For Summer or Year Round Residences with Great Fishing, White-Sandy Beaches & Beautiful Views of the Fire Island Inlet and the Atlantic Ocean. The Eastern Part is a Gated Community, “Oak Beach Association” and the Western Part is not Gated. The Town is Located Only 1 Hour From New York City. There are Fishing Jetties There for Public Use.

The Land in Oak Beach is Owned by the Town of Babylon, rather than it’s Residence. It is on Long Term Lease from the Town of Babylon.
