National “Do-Not-Call” Registry

Many people have registered their phone numbers with the National "Do-Not-Call" Registry to reduce the number of telemarketing calls to your home. Many people have worried lately that they are going to be dropped from this list.

The National "Do-Not-Call" Registry has been around for almost 5 years.

Registration is only valid for 5 years and therefore those that signed up when the program began must re-register to stay on the list.

Telemarketers covered by the National "Do Not Call" Registry have up to 31 days from the date you first register to stop calling you. Under federal law, your number will stay in the registry for five years, or until it is disconnected, or until you delete it from the registry.

You may renew your registration at any time for another five years and may also register cell numbers by going online to:

http://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

and clicking on "Register A Phone Number." If you changed your phone number, you must re-register. You can also verify your expiration date at this site by clicking on "Verify A Registration."

Or Call 1-888-382-1222. You must call from the phone number you will be registering.
