HALLOWEEN RECIPE
Witch Finger Bread Sticks
So Halloween is closing in you’re starved for bloody body parts and dirty fingernails. We made these for a Halloween party last weekend and although a lot of the kids were too scared to eat them, they were a big hit with the adults. They take a little time and dedication to finger craftsmanship, but the recipe is easy and very quick.
Witch Finger Bread Sticks
Refrigerated breadsticks or large biscuits.
Red food dye or food jell
Almond slices/split almonds
Place a small amount of food coloring in a shallow bowl and, using a paintbrush, color the rounded side of each split almond. Set aside to dry.
I took a refrigerated roll of Pillsbury Grands and separated each biscuit into three layers. You can also use the Pillsbury refrigerated bread sticks and cut each one into thirds.
Pinch them in 2 places to form the knuckle shape ( look at your own finger.) Pinch them severely as the rise and the shape will be lost somewhat.
Score the "knuckle" with a knife to make the creases like your own.
Brush fingers lightly with egg wash
Push the sliced almond INTO the dough to form the nail. If you want them to more gruesome, put a bit of red gel in the nail bed and press the almond fingernails into the end of the finger.
Coat baking sheet lightly with Pam or vegetable spray.
