The Gull Haven Golf Club is a 9-hole course known as “Islip’s family golf course” because of its wide, flat fairways and friendly atmosphere. It’s the perfect course to take Dad if he is a beginner or if he is more experienced and wants to share the joy of golf with the kids. Gull Haven’s medium-length nine-hole layout is a great spot for the new golfer to learn or a more experienced player helping someone take up and appreciate the game. In either case, Gull Haven’s welcoming characteristics make it an ideal spot for a relaxed round.
Located in Central Islip, Gull Haven is a par-35 with 2,700+ yards of open, hazard-free fairways and surprisingly small greens. The course has a more lively personality than the typical nine-hole municipal course…but the South Shore is anything but typical.

The Brentwood Country Club is one of the oldest public courses on Long Island. It was designed by famed course architect Devereux Emmet in the 1920s. Brentwood is a short par-72 that has mainly flat and open fairways and does not have water on the course. All this makes Brentwood attractive to beginning golfers and can offer a bit of a challenge for more experienced players. Between holes 8 and 16, Brentwood has a series of par-4s — six of them are shorter than 310 yards and three play under 285.
JUNE SPECIAL:
Just in time for Father’s Day, Brentwood Country Club is offering “Wild Wednesdays” in the month of June. An 18-hole round at the Devereux Emmet course is $37 with cart and reservation fees included. It’s just $32 for seniors. If you prefer to walk Brentwood’s flat layout, greens fee and reservation is only $24. These discounts are valid all day long. Take the day off with Dad and give him an extra-special Father’s Day gift; a day of golf at an Emmet designed course with you.
