Netter Real Estate wants you to know that earlier this year, the Town of Babylon and the Long Island Housing Partnership announced landmark Veterans Down Payment Assistance Program, offering up to $10,000 for veterans to purchase a home in Babylon.

It is a groundbreaking program that will provide veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom financial assistance to purchase a home in the Town of Babylon. The program seeks to honor the sacrifices that members of our armed services have made on behalf of our country.

Under the Town of Babylon Veterans Down Payment Assistance Program, the Town will offer assistance of up to $10,000 for down payment and/or closing costs to veterans of the US Armed Forces who served on active duty since October 7, 2001 who are purchasing a home in the Town of Babylon.

Netter Real Estate THINKS PINK in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at This Weekend’s Extra-Special Open Houses

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Netter Real Estate feels a very personal connection to this cause. Within our Netter Real Estate family, we have several breast cancer survivors. We applaud their bravery as they conquered breast cancer in their own lives and are so very thankful that they were victorious in their fight. We take every opportunity to contribute towards both breast cancer awareness and a search for a cure.

Earlier this month, we donned denim and pink tops on Lee Denim Day. This weekend we’re taking it a step further. For each customer that attends our Open Houses this weekend, a donation will be made to Casting for Recovery, an organization dedicated to helping those with breast cancer move forward to a healthier life. This weekend as you shop for a home to improve your quality of life, you’ll be helping Netter Real Estate make a positive impact on the lives of others in our community.

Casting for Recovery is a grassroots organization dedicated to helping breast cancer patients and survivors move forward to a healthier life.

Casting for Recovery was founded in 1996 in Manchester, Vermont, the unique brainchild of a breast cancer reconstructive surgeon and a professional fly fisher. Founded on the principles that the natural world is a healing force and that cancer survivors deserve one weekend — free of charge and free of the stresses from medical treatment, home, or workplace — Casting for Recovery affords breast cancer patients and survivors the opportunity to experience something new and challenging while enjoying beautiful surroundings within an intimate, safe, and nurturing structure.

Those whose lives have been profoundly affected by the disease to gather in a natural setting and learn the sport of fly fishing. Just as importantly, the retreats offer an opportunity to meet new friends, network, exchange information, and have fun. Plus the weekend retreats incorporate counseling, educational services, and the trained facilitators that staff each retreat, including a psycho-social therapist, a health care professional (e.g. physical therapist, nurse), as well as fly-fishing instructors and river helpers.

Annually retreats are held at our own Connetquot River State Park where several Long Island breast cancer patients and survivors participate.

"Fly fishing is a metaphor for how we will live our lives after breast cancer: stay focused and aware of what surrounds us, move slowly with grace and be fully present in what we are doing." ~ Casting for Recovery retreat participant
