Realtors Against Hunger: Netter Real Estate Joins the RAH Campaign

August 25th, 2010 knetter Posted in Community Service, Netter Events, Netter News No Comments »

Netter Real Estate is delighted to participate in the annual Realtors Against Hunger (RAH) Campaign.  Partnered with this campaign are two of the largest and well-respected anti-hunger charities on Long Island, Long Island Cares and Long Island Harvest.  It is our collective mission to ensure that our fellow Long Islanders don’t go hungry.  The RAH Campaign officially kicked off on Saturday, August 21st during REALTOR® Night at the Long Island Ducks and will run through September 30th.

Netter Real Estate is a proud participant in the RAH Campaign to help feed our neighbors in need.

Did you know that according to Hunger in America 2010 – The Local Report for Long Island, 1 in 10 Long Islanders turn to emergency food programs each year?  One million Long Islanders are at risk of hunger and 110,000 of them are children.

We are asking for your help at your place or ours.  You can donate your non-perishable items at our place,  404 Montauk Highway in West Islip, since our office is a donation center.  Let us know when you are coming so we can thank you personally.

We can also come to you.  Call us at 631-661-5100 to let us know when it would be a good time to come by and pick up your non-perishable items.  We can even come around and give you an official RAH bag to make donating even easier.

Thank you for joining Netter Real through the RAH Campaign Estate to help end hunger on Long Island.

Netter Real Estate GIVES AWAY the Hottest Tickets of the Summer: Who Got Them?

August 23rd, 2010 knetter Posted in Community Service, Long Island Ducks, Netter Events, Netter News, Netter Real Estate Agents No Comments »

Joe Jonas at bat blowing a bubble

On Friday, August 13th, tickets were given out at the Long Island Duck’s home, Suffolk County Sports Park in Central Islip, for the August 21st’ Marquis Jet Flyers versus Road Dogs exhibition softball game.  Newsday reported that there were people waiting on line at the stadium beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 12th!  Why the heck would people wait overnight for tickets to an exhibition softball game?  Because the Jonas Brothers play for the Road Dogs.  In fact, Nick Jonas is the team captain.

Because Netter Real Estate has been season ticket holders and have supported the Long Island Ducks since their inception 10 years ago, we  were given 9 tickets to the very game many members of our community waited so long to receive.  Knowing that not all the Jonas Brothers fans in our community were able to get tickets to this very special game, we made it our mission to make several people’s day by giving them our tickets.

The Road Dogs featuring the Jonas Brothers official tour bus at the home of the Long Island Ducks

Irene Lockel, an Associate Broker at Netter Real Estate since 1994, has been working with the Kodak family and has grown to care deeply for them.  When Irene heard that we had tickets to the “Jonas Brothers Softball Game,” as the event came to be known, she knew just who to call.  The Kodak kids, Samantha, Michael and Kenny, were happy beyond belief to be able to see the Jonas Brothers so close to home.

But the Kodaks were not the only lucky fans to make it to the game courtesy of Netter Real Estate.  Irina Renner, Buyer Specialist for the Jim Netter Team, gave three tickets to the Carbone family.  Tanya took her two girls, Ella, 5, and Madeline, 8, to the game.  The girls were thrilled!  Madeline turns 9 in the next few weeks.  Tanya was so happy to be able to make her little girl’s birthday wish come early; seeing the Jonas Brothers, live and in-person.

Matthew Arnold, also an Associate Broker with Netter Real Estate, was able to share some Jonas joy with someone he’s been working with as well.  Bridget of Smithtown was able to take the Jonas Brothers fan in her life, Alexander Paul, to the Road Dogs game.  Matt can often be heard telling people to “Make it a great day.”  Well, Matt, you saw to it that Bridget and Alexander did have a great day on Saturday!

The setting at the Long Island Ducks’ home is so intimate.  You almost feel like you are on the field with the players.  That’s one of the reasons why seeing the Long Island Ducks play is so much fun.  The fans who were at Saturday’s softball game got to see the Jonas Brothers so much closer than they ever could have at a musical venue.  As one fan said “It’s different than a concert.  We’ll get to see them more as people.”  What a wonderful feeling it was to make this possible for a few of the VIPs in Netter Real Estate’s life!

PS:      The Road Dogs featuring the Jonas Brothers won the softball game…but something tells me the fans would have still seen Nick, Joe and Kevin as winners even if their team had lost.  By the way, the boys of summer (aka The Long Island Ducks) are still playing.  You can get terrific seats to see our home team play.  Click here for ticket information.

PPS:   Allstate was the proud sponsor of this event.  They are trying to send the message out about how dangerous texting while driving is.  They are asking everyone to Join Allstate’s Teen Driver Pledge.  Teens and Families, please pledge not to Text & Drive.  An important message for us all.

Joe Jonas checking his phone -- NOTE: He is NOT driving while he's texting! Way to go, Joe!

Even QuackerJack is a fan of the Jonas Brothers! He didn't mind sharing the spotlight on Saturday.

Jonas Brothers + Long Island Ducks = The Great Netter Ticket Giveaway

August 20th, 2010 knetter Posted in Long Island Ducks, Netter Events, Netter News, Netter Real Estate Agents No Comments »

It’s no secret that Netter Real Estate has supported the Long Island Ducks since their inception.  For the past 10 years, we’ve watched the Ducks play some of the finest minor league baseball from our season tickets behind our home team’s dugout.  We love seeing QuackerJack’s crazy antics up close!

Do you know what we feel the greatest benefit is to being a season ticket holder to the Long Island Ducks?  The ability to share the simple pleasure of watching America’s pass time with our clients, customers and other VIPs that we’ve come to know.

Now, because Netter Real Estate has been a supporter and season ticket holder for the LI Ducks from their very beginning, we are in possession of 8 tickets to the August 21stMarquis Jet Flyers versus Road Dogs exhibition softball game, being held at the Long Island Duck’s home, Suffolk County Sports Park in Central Islip.  What’s so special about an exhibition softball game?  The Road Dogs feature none other than the Jonas Brothers on their team!!!  This is truly the hottest game of the summer…and it’s being played right here in our own back yard!  How cool is that?

Road Dogs featuring the Jonas Brothers playing softball at our LI Ducks home on Saturday, August 21st

Rather than keep these tickets for ourselves, we thought it would be an even better idea to embrace this as a once in a lifetime opportunity to make some lucky fans’ day.   That’s right; a few good Netter agents are currently in search of our most special VIPs to give these tickets to!

Who are these VIPs?  Tune in next time and find out…

PS:      While the tickets to the Jonas Brothers softball game might all be spoken for, you can still get terrific seats to see our home team, the Long Island Ducks play.  Click here for ticket information.

Feeling Itchy?

Feeling Itchy?  It’s poison Ivy time!

Poison Ivy                                       Poison sumac                 Poison oak

These plants contain an oily substance called URUSHIOL that causes a red, bumpy rash in many people.

If you think you have come into contact with one of these plants, wash with soap and water  as quickly as possible.  If you do this, you may stop a reaction.  If it is longer than that, the oil has already penetrated the skin and washing it will no longer prevent the rash, but it may help reduce the severity.

Treatment  Options:

  1. OTC  cortisone cream 2-3 times a day
  2. Anti-itch lotion such as calamine lotion
  3. OTC antihistamine such as Benadryl or Zyrtec
  4. Take an oatmeal bath

But see the doctor if the over the counter products don’t work, blisters are oozing, or if you develop a fever of over  100° F

IvyBlock (ivyblock.com) is the only FDA approved OTC barrier cream.  Use like a sunscreen.

The key to preventing that rash is knowing  what these plants look like and the avoid them!
