Kendra Stryska, Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, and Dianne Scalza, Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker, teamed up and went door-to-door retrieving RAH donations from generous folks in Babylon.

The Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) launched its annual Realtors Against Hunger (RAH) Campaign benefiting Long Island Cares and Island Harvest.  Donations stay on Long Island to help our neighbors in need.  Netter Real Estate is always happy to participate. Netterettes hit the phones and called their clients, customers, friends and neighbors asking for a donation of non-perishable food and personal care items for RAH.  Then the Netterettes hit the streets to collect the items generously donated by our community.  We even went to Stop and Shop in North Babylon and received donations from generous shoppers.  Some donated a can of food, some donated an entire bag. It all helped a great deal.  In all, Netter Real Estate collected over 850 pounds of donations!

Kendra Stryska, Licensed Real Estate Salesperson and Licensed Associate Brokers Lawrence Gardner and Richard Bocchieri loaded up the Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck with the RAH donations they collected from our generous community.

Then we loaded up the Netter Real Estate Community Moving van and brought it all to Long Island Cares Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge.  Thank you everyone for your donations. What a fantastic community we serve!

Lawrence Gardner, Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker, drove the Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck to the Long Island Cares Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge. It took a fork lift to bring the donations into the warehouse! Way to go, everyone!!!

Several of our Netterettes serve our professional real estate community by serving on the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) Suffolk South Shore Chapter as Directors and Officers on its Board of Directors.  The Suffolk South Shore Chapter is also dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve.  As the cold weather approached, the Suffolk South Shore Chapter put together the Koats for Kids Drive with gently used coats going to the Family Service League in Bay Shore.  The Family Service League is a fantastic organization that serves the local community is a wide variety of ways and helping people of all ages.  Thanks to the generosity of our community and the efforts of the LIBOR Suffolk South Shore Chapter, a couple hundred Long Islanders will be better equipped for brave the cold winter. Thank you!

Netter Real Estate's own Licensed Real Estate Salesperson and LIBOR Suffolk South Shore Chapter Treasurer, Angela Charron and Netter Real Estate Licensed Associate Broker and LIBOR Suffolk South Shore Director, Richard Bocchieri, loaded up the Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck with the Koats for Kids donations and brought them to the Family Service League in Bay Shore. Look at all those bags full of gently used coats!

Some of the Netterettes loaded up our sleigh…er…truck with the toys that our friends, neighbors, clients, customers and fellow Netterettes donated to the fantastic grassroots charity, Helping Hands of West Islip.  All the toys donated go to kids in need in the Town of Islip and Town of Babylon.  A tough economy has greatly increased the need for donations.  There were about 7,000 kids on the list.  Despite the tough economy, our community came through and met that need.  What an incredible community to be part of. BIG THANKS to Jennifer and Helping Hands of West Islip for all you do!

You’re not having holiday hysteria…that adorable life-sized gingerbread house you see at 404 Montauk Highway in West Islip is none other than the one and only Netter Real Estate office all decked out in its holiday splendor!  Santa was mighty impressed.

A fabulous time was had by all during our Annual House Lighting and Santa Visit.  The cocoa was flowing, cookies were being nibbled children excitedly sat on Santa’s lap and shared their Christmas wishes.  Best of all, the Netterettes got to reconnect with past clients and customers they haven’t seen since in a while and get to know the people they are currently working with on a whole new level.

In our new holiday tradition, we asked our guests to bring a new or gently used toy if they could as part of the Helping Hands in West Islip’s Annual Toy Drive.  Jennifer Gallozzi, founder of this grassroots organization that helps families in need in the Towns of Islip and Babylon, said that there are about 7,000 kids that would love to know the joy of opening a gift on Christmas morning.  Big thanks to our community who once again came through with their generous spirit.  We collected enough toys during our celebration to fill our porch!  On Wednesday, December 7th several Netterettes will become Christmas Elves at the American Legion Hall on Union Boulevard as we pack up our sleigh (really the Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck) full of those toys and decorate them in ribbons and candy canes to get them ready for the kids.

Netter Real Estate hopes that everyone had a Happy Halloween.  The weather was great for all the trick-or-treaters yesterday.  Kids in costumes were out in droves, walking our suburban streets in search of delicious sweets.  Our friendly and generous community didn’t disappoint!  The “Junior Netterettes” came home with sacks overflowing.  But we know that most of the joy is in the conquest of the candy.  It would be unhealthy for our kids to actually eat all those sweets – and many adults don’t want the candy in easy reach of themselves either.  It’s a sin to throw away food so what can be done with all that excess candy?  Netter Real Estate knows of a Win-Win solution…Operation Gratitude.

Halloween Candy Buy Back

Take the candy that your family loves and bring the rest to a dentist participating in the Halloween Candy Buy Back and your extra candy will go to Operation Gratitude so a soldier can smile.

Dentists nationwide “buy-back” Halloween candy from children in their communities and then send the candy to U.S. Military deployed in combat through Operation Gratitude.

The troops love the candy–for themselves, but also to give out to the children in the communities they patrol.  Many Service Members have told us that the children gave them information on where bombs and bad guys were hidden after receiving our candy and stuffed animals.  They said: “You are not just putting smiles on our faces; you are saving our lives.”

All types of candy are acceptable, including chocolate this time of year.

Long Island Ducks

Everyone’s favorite hometown baseball team, the Long Island Ducks, also wants your extra Halloween candy for Operation Gratitude.  The Long Island Ducks announced that Bethpage Ballpark will act as a collection point for any extra Halloween candy that fans wish to purge. The candy will be mailed to Operation Gratitude by the team’s charitable arm, the QuackerJack Foundation, in order to be used for care packages for troops fighting overseas. Donations will be accepted at the Bethpage Ballpark executive offices during normal business hours until Thursday, November 10th.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Netter Real Estate feels a very personal connection to this cause.  Within our Netter Real Estate family, we have several breast cancer survivors.  We applaud their bravery as they conquered breast cancer in their own lives and are so very thankful that they were victorious in their fight.  We take every opportunity to contribute towards both breast cancer awareness and a search for a cure. 

Earlier this month, we donned denim and pink tops on Lee Denim Day.  This weekend we’re taking it a step further.  For each customer that attends our Open Houses this weekend, a donation will be made to Casting for Recovery, an organization dedicated to helping those with breast cancer move forward to a healthier life.  This weekend as you shop for a home to improve your quality of life, you’ll be helping Netter Real Estate make a positive impact on the lives of others in our community.

Casting for Recovery is a grassroots organization dedicated to helping breast cancer patients and survivors move forward to a healthier life.

Casting for Recovery was founded in 1996 in Manchester, Vermont, the unique brainchild of a breast cancer reconstructive surgeon and a professional fly fisher.  Founded on the principles that the natural world is a healing force and that cancer survivors deserve one weekend — free of charge and free of the stresses from medical treatment, home, or workplace — Casting for Recovery affords breast cancer patients and survivors the opportunity to experience something new and challenging while enjoying beautiful surroundings within an intimate, safe, and nurturing structure.

Those whose lives have been profoundly affected by the disease to gather in a natural setting and learn the sport of fly fishing. Just as importantly, the retreats offer an opportunity to meet new friends, network, exchange information, and have fun.  Plus the weekend retreats incorporate counseling, educational services, and the trained facilitators that staff each retreat, including a psycho-social therapist, a health care professional (e.g. physical therapist, nurse), as well as fly-fishing instructors and river helpers.

Annually retreats are held at our own Connetquot River State Park where several Long Island breast cancer patients and survivors participate.

But since 1996, Lee National Denim Day® has raised over $83 million for the fight against breast cancer… $5 at a time. On Denim Day® — which is Friday, October 7th — Netter Real Estate has pledged to wear jeans and pink tops and each donate at least $5 to the Women’s Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation.

Last year, in the span of the hour and a half during a Broker's Open House, Matthew Arnold, Associate Broker at Neter Real Estate, raised $75 for Breast Cancer Awareness...all while sporting his denim, pink top and pink tie. Go 4^th on the Bay

For the first time since 1989, the Town of Islip will not only be hosting a July 4^th Grucci Fireworks Display but they will be having an Independence Day Festival at the Bay Shore Marina complete with food, live entertainment, culminating with a fireworks display that only the World Famous Long Island Gruccis can do!

This will be the Gruccis flagship fireworks program for all of Suffolk County which will be fired from a barge directly off the Bay Shore Marina.  Planned for the event is a Flyover of the entire Great South Bay by the Bayport Aerodrome Society’s Vintage Bi-Wing Planes, the US Army Team’s Salute to the National Anthem with the “Raising of the Colors”, and the state-of-the-art fireworks choreographed to patriotic music and simulcast by B103; all to celebrate our nation’s 235th Birthday.  

The fireworks can be seen along the South Shore from Bay Shore to Patchogue.  If you are a boater, good viewing  will be from most of the Fire Island bay fronts and shorelines of the bay from Smith Point to Bay Shore.  The Captree Boat’s cruise to Bay Shore would be a spectacular way to enjoy the evening, go to www.captreefleet.com then click on “fireworks” for ticket info.  If you are a resident of the Town of Islip, the Town Beaches make great vantage points. 

The 20-minute fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.  By boat or by beach, be sure to get there early.  Grucci Fireworks always draw a crowd.

Proceeds from the Independence Day Festival at the Bay Shore Marina  will benefit Pronto of Long Island, a Bay Shore-based community outreach center that serves more than 60,000 people.

Long Island Ducks

There is an annual Independence Day tradition here on the South Shore of Grucci fireworks and baseball.  The Yankees and the Mets are not having a fireworks show but that’s okay.  Even though this year everyone’s favorite hometeam, the Long Island Ducks, will be on the road on July 4^th the tradition will not be broken on Long Island.  Long Islanders have yet another chance to enjoy a fabulous fireworks display.  The Long Island Ducks will be hosting a fireworks extravaganza on July 9^th when they take on the Somerset Patriots.  The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on July 9^th and the Grucci fireworks display will start immediately following the game.

The All-American tradition of fireworks and baseball on to celebrate July 4th continues!

 

The Gruccis of New York, a five-generation, family-owned and operated Long Island company, will be presenting the fireworks.  Their shows are always dazzling, so the Ducks game will surely be a wonderful experience for all fans in attendance.

Freedom Fest Concert at the Home of the Long Island Ducks, Bethpage Park in Central Islip

The Long Island Ducks might be on the road for Independence Day Weekend but the festivities are still going on at home in Bethpage Park in Central Islip.  The Freedom Fest Concert will be brought to you by the Long Island Ducks and My Country 96.1 FM.  Immediately following the show, the Grucci Family will have a spectacular fireworks display.

The concert starts at 6 p.m. and tickets can be purchases at the Bethpage Ballpark Box Office ranging in price from $25 to $45. 

Long Island's own country girl, Lisa Matassa, is among the headliners at the Freedom Fest Concert at LI Ducks Bethpage Ballpark followed by Grucci Fireworks

 

Featured artists descending upon Bethpage Ballpark include Jaron and the Long Road to Love, Jacob Lyda, Sarah Darling, Due West, Bad Horse and Long Island’s very own Lisa Mattasa.

Fund in The Sun Foundation:  Beginning at Dusk at The Pines, Fire Island.  Fireworks by Grucci.  If viewing by boat, Anchor in The Great South Bay.

Saturday, August 27^th 

Town of Babylon Beach Blast and Fireworks Extravaganza: 3:00 pm (fireworks at dusk) at Overlook Beach at Cedar Beach.  Display by Bay Fireworks.  If viewing by boat, anchor outside of the channel markers/ buoys in the state channel and surrounding bays, as well as ocean viewing off Cedar Beach.

Note to Boaters:

If you are enjoying the fireworks by boat, please be safe.  Since you’ll be watching the show after the sun sets, make sure you are comfortable operating your vessel at night.  Keep an eye out for other boaters and stay at least ¼ mile away and up-wind from where the fireworks are being discharged.  Remember, don’t anchor in a channel and keep clear of any Coast Guard designated security/safety zones. Most of all, enjoy the show as only South Shore natives can!

Practice boat safety on the Great South Bay and it will be smooth sailing for all!
