<p>When someone refers you it says you did a great job.  So what does it say when most of my business comes from referrals given by my past customers and clients?  It says I do my job right!  I do that by listening to the wants and needs of my clients and customers. I specialize in first time homebuyers as well as situations that require special attention and compassion. It has always been my philosophy that what sells a home is the activities performed by the agent you hire. That holds true for finding the right home for my buyers as well.  I will perform ALL the tasks necessary to achieve our goals whether it’s selling your home or finding you a new one.  I am an active member of the Long Island Board of Realtors and serve on many committees. <p>October brings to the Islips many Striped Bass Fishing Tournaments.  The weekend of October 23rd-24th, there were three.  The one <a href="http://netterrealestate.com/agents1.asp?ID=166">Dave Sanders</a>, Licensed Real Estate Salesperson at <a href="http://www.netterrealestate.com">Netter Real Estate</a>, tries to fish every year is the Kismet Tournament.  This year was no exception!   It&#8217;s always held the week before they close for the season.  The second one is hosted by the East Islip Anglers Club and is exclusive for Anglers of their Club and the third of the weekend is the Viking Tournament.   All three tournaments were held on Saturday, October 23rd, bringing the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_South_Bay">Bay</a> and <a href="http://www.fireisland.com/">Fire Island </a>Inlet alive like it was summer again with center consoles and sport fishing boats!</p>
<p>The Kismet Tournament has six categories: First, Second and Third largest striped bass and bluefish and also a Calcutta for the Largest striped bass.  There is a limit of boats allowed to enter this tournament but it is unlimited to surf fisherman.</p>

<p>There were 128 contestants this year.  The Largest Bass was a whopping 28 pounds!  Dave Sanders thought he may have been weighing in the 15.5 pounder that he landed &#8212; which is a mighty catch for sure!  Alas, as when he retuned to the dock, the fish that had been weighed in were two 22 pounders and one 15.1 pounder.  Most of the boats seemed to be in by the time Dave returned and it was already 3:50 p.m.  The cut-off time for weigh in was 4:00 p.m. and he had one of the end slips which takes a few minutes to walk back to&#8230;well, it was soon clear that Dave would not be weighing in a fish this year.   But that&#8217;s okay because after the weigh in is when the party starts!</p>
<p>Larry Cole got on the megaphone and distributed the winning cash prizes and then continued to the door prizes &#8211; which are always very generous gifts donated by local merchant fisherman.  This year <a href="http://www.netterrealestate.com">Netter Real Estate</a> and <a href="http://netterrealestate.com/agents1.asp?ID=166">Dave Sanders </a>donated a beautiful Shimano rod and reel setup; a sure surprise for the lucky winner!  There  were also many other wonderful, generous prizes including a beach bike, assorted rod and reel combos, nets, tackle and the list goes on.</p>
<p>The beer was flowing from the second you reached the corner of the <a href="http://www.bing.com/local/details.aspx?lid=YN635x11103545&amp;qt=yp&amp;what=kismet+inn&amp;where=West+Islip%2c+New+York&amp;s_cid=ansPhBkYp02&amp;mkt=en-us&amp;q=kismet+inn">Kismet Inn</a>.  Then after the raffle finished, it was time for more beer, cocktails and the infamous buffet put together of all the fish caught.  Someone even made a homemade smoked bluefish dip! It was  just out of this world! </p>
<p>We just have God to thank for the weather.  It was a very mild and calm day for the Kismet Tournament.  Dave will tell you, most of his memories of tournaments past have been cold and rough&#8230;yet always enjoyable enough to bring him back the following year. It must be the hospitality of the Kohl family who runs the <a href="http://www.bing.com/local/details.aspx?lid=YN635x11103545&amp;qt=yp&amp;what=kismet+inn&amp;where=West+Islip%2c+New+York&amp;s_cid=ansPhBkYp02&amp;mkt=en-us&amp;q=kismet+inn">Kismet Inn</a>!</p>
<p>Thanks Larry, Joyce and family for providing such an awesome end of season event!  Dave said &#8220;The toasted buttered rolls hit the spot when we entered for sign up at 6:30 a.m.  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you! It was a great day.&#8221;</p>

<p>On Wednesday, October 20th, several of the Netter Real Estate Agents who assertively collected donations from the generous members of the communities we serve  &#8212; along with<a href="http://netterrealestate.com/netterfamily.htm"> Jim Netter </a>himself &#8211; loaded up the <a href="http://www.netterrealestate.com/truck.htm">Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck </a>with bags upon bags filled with non-perishable food and personal care items to be delivered to the <a href="http://www.licares.org/">Long Island Cares: Harry Chapin Food Bank</a> in Hauppauge.</p>

<p>This economy has been so hard on so many for so long.  Netter agents, including Licensed Real Estate Salespeople <a href="http://www.netterrealestate.com/agents1.asp?ID=160">Janet Maffucci</a>, Irina Renner, <a href="http://www.netterrealestate.com/agents1.asp?ID=176">Pattie Coppola</a>, <a href="http://www.netterrealestate.com/agents1.asp?ID=192">Christina Galicia</a> and Associate Brokers <a href="http://www.netterrealestate.com/agents1.asp?ID=194">Irene Lockel</a> and <a href="http://www.netterrealestate.com/agents1.asp?ID=188">Richard Bocchieri</a>, were inspired to help at-risk Long Islanders.   </p>

<p>There were two full pallets of RAH donations unloaded from the Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck.  When the weight was totalled up, Netter Real Estate was responsibile for collecting <strong><span style="color: #800000;">774 pounds of non-persihable food and personal care items!</span></strong>  We knew that our friends and neighbors on the South Shore were special but it is truly humbling to see the enormity of their generousity.  It is with such pride that we serve these communities.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Do Realtors have their own language?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">What do those abbreviations and  advertisements mean anyway?  I get asked that question all the time when I am teaching my real estate classes.  I believe Realtors are so used to using these abbreviations and such they just assume everyone knows what they are.  And you know what happens when you assume!!!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Here are some answers to your questions:</span></p>
<ol>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">EIK – no I haven’t seen a mouse….that is Eat in Kitchen.  As opposed to an eat out kitchen i guess.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">OSE – Outside entrance….Illegal apartment perhaps!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">FSBO – for sale by owner….we like to think that stands for frustrated seller batting zero!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Low maintenance – no yard, kids will have to play in the street.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">FDR – no not Franklin Delano Roosevelt, but formal dining room and<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> that</span> leaves a lot of room for interpretation</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Desirable neighborhood – this little house is extravagantly overpriced but neighborhood has  snobbish appeal</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Family room – large basement</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Plenty of storage – basement too small for family room</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Winter water view.   Hahaha, can’t see it in the summer when you will be outside!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">1 car garage – you can put you Cadillac Escalade in, but you can’t open the door.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Old world charm-  nothing has been updated!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Bring your hammer – oh god, knock it down!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Waterfront property – of course, the water may be in your front yard</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Cozy- can I even fit a bed in that room?</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Don’t eye ball – house on outside is UGLY, what lies ahead.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Mrs. Clean lives here – but she hasn’t changed a thing in 40 years</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Close to all – commercial buildings could be your neighbor!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Neighborhood Watch- noisy neighbors with binoculars</span></li>
