Last week, USA Network’s popular series, Royal Pains, aired its season premiere.  One of the main characters in the show is actually the setting: The Hamptons.  Throughout the episodes you’ll view scenic shots of waterviews, often with yachts enjoying the majesty of Long Island’s waters, pristine beaches, lush greenery, historic lighthouses and, of course, the lavish lifestyle that can only be found in The Hamptons.  Well…that’s mostly true.  You see, many of those heavenly views were not shot in The Hamptons.  Rather, they were filmed in the heart of Netter Real Estate‘s home; Suffolk’s South Shore.

Netter Real Estate is overwhelmed by the compassion and generosity of the communities we serve.  Here are a few of the ways in which our communities helped us help Long Islanders in need during 2011…

Kendra Stryska, Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, and Dianne Scalza, Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker, teamed up and went door-to-door retrieving RAH donations from generous folks in Babylon.

The Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) launched its annual Realtors Against Hunger (RAH) Campaign benefiting Long Island Cares and Island Harvest.  Donations stay on Long Island to help our neighbors in need.  Netter Real Estate is always happy to participate. Netterettes hit the phones and called their clients, customers, friends and neighbors asking for a donation of non-perishable food and personal care items for RAH.  Then the Netterettes hit the streets to collect the items generously donated by our community.  We even went to Stop and Shop in North Babylon and received donations from generous shoppers.  Some donated a can of food, some donated an entire bag. It all helped a great deal.  In all, Netter Real Estate collected over 850 pounds of donations!

Kendra Stryska, Licensed Real Estate Salesperson and Licensed Associate Brokers Lawrence Gardner and Richard Bocchieri loaded up the Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck with the RAH donations they collected from our generous community.

Then we loaded up the Netter Real Estate Community Moving van and brought it all to Long Island Cares Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge.  Thank you everyone for your donations. What a fantastic community we serve!

Lawrence Gardner, Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker, drove the Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck to the Long Island Cares Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge. It took a fork lift to bring the donations into the warehouse! Way to go, everyone!!!

Several of our Netterettes serve our professional real estate community by serving on the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) Suffolk South Shore Chapter as Directors and Officers on its Board of Directors.  The Suffolk South Shore Chapter is also dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve.  As the cold weather approached, the Suffolk South Shore Chapter put together the Koats for Kids Drive with gently used coats going to the Family Service League in Bay Shore.  The Family Service League is a fantastic organization that serves the local community is a wide variety of ways and helping people of all ages.  Thanks to the generosity of our community and the efforts of the LIBOR Suffolk South Shore Chapter, a couple hundred Long Islanders will be better equipped for brave the cold winter. Thank you!

Netter Real Estate's own Licensed Real Estate Salesperson and LIBOR Suffolk South Shore Chapter Treasurer, Angela Charron and Netter Real Estate Licensed Associate Broker and LIBOR Suffolk South Shore Director, Richard Bocchieri, loaded up the Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck with the Koats for Kids donations and brought them to the Family Service League in Bay Shore. Look at all those bags full of gently used coats!

Some of the Netterettes loaded up our sleigh…er…truck with the toys that our friends, neighbors, clients, customers and fellow Netterettes donated to the fantastic grassroots charity, Helping Hands of West Islip.  All the toys donated go to kids in need in the Town of Islip and Town of Babylon.  A tough economy has greatly increased the need for donations.  There were about 7,000 kids on the list.  Despite the tough economy, our community came through and met that need.  What an incredible community to be part of. BIG THANKS to Jennifer and Helping Hands of West Islip for all you do!

The end of the year is a favorite of mine.  It is a time of reflection, to assess what occurred, count our blessings and plan new beginnings as we approach the coming year.  As I simultaneously look back at 2011 and forward towards 2012, I feel even more positive than I did when I was in this state of reflection one year ago.

The sale-boosting government tax incentives offered in 2010 didn’t carry over into 2011.  What 2011 did have were home prices that continued to be reasonable paired with historically low mortgage interest rates.  I’ve been in the business of real estate for more than 40 years and never have I seen a time where buyers are able to get so much value for their dollar.  For my next 40+ years in the real estate, I don’t think we will ever see these incredible values again.  We are in the midst of real estate history.  Those who are buying now, will be able to tell the tale of how they were part of it by making the smartest investment of their lives.  And those who wait too long will tell the sad tale of “woulda, coulda, shoulda.”  Even without government incentives and despite dramatic media spin, qualified buyers are climbing down from their fences to achieve the American Dream of Homeownership.  During what is typically the slower part of the real estate year, Netter Real Estate agents are selling homes and presenting multiple offers to our sellers regularly, even in the hi-end price range — which is something economists view as an indicator of an upswing of consumer confidence.

I am optimistic but I am far from delusional.  The economy is still in distress.  No doubt, 2012 will present more challenges.  Netter Real Estate will not only face but defeat those challenges.  Now more than ever, our out-of-the-box marketing strategies, staying informed of all the latest changes and interpreting both the national and local economies, makes Netter Real Estate THE most trusted real estate office on the South Shore.  Loud and clear through our market share, our community says so.  MLS numbers don’t lie.

Once again, Netter Real Estate wore our compassion on our sleeve this year.  In time for Thanksgiving, during the Realtors® Against Hunger (RAH) campaign, our office delivered 775 pounds of food items we collected from our generous communities to Long Island Cares for distribution Long Islanders in need.  We continue our affiliation with the grassroots charity, Helping Hands of West Islip, Inc., most recently collecting toys for its annual Toy Drive.

Nobody knows for sure what the future holds.  There are so many factors that are beyond our control.  One thing I know for certain; Netter Real Estate has been serving the Long Island Community since 1949; we will continue to serve in the greatest ways through any market from our one and only location — 404 Montauk Highway in West Islip. You’re not having holiday hysteria…that adorable life-sized gingerbread house you see at 404 Montauk Highway in West Islip is none other than the one and only Netter Real Estate office all decked out in its holiday splendor!  Santa was mighty impressed.

A fabulous time was had by all during our Annual House Lighting and Santa Visit.  The cocoa was flowing, cookies were being nibbled children excitedly sat on Santa’s lap and shared their Christmas wishes.  Best of all, the Netterettes got to reconnect with past clients and customers they haven’t seen since in a while and get to know the people they are currently working with on a whole new level.

In our new holiday tradition, we asked our guests to bring a new or gently used toy if they could as part of the Helping Hands in West Islip’s Annual Toy Drive.  Jennifer Gallozzi, founder of this grassroots organization that helps families in need in the Towns of Islip and Babylon, said that there are about 7,000 kids that would love to know the joy of opening a gift on Christmas morning.  Big thanks to our community who once again came through with their generous spirit.  We collected enough toys during our celebration to fill our porch!  On Wednesday, December 7th several Netterettes will become Christmas Elves at the American Legion Hall on Union Boulevard as we pack up our sleigh (really the Netter Real Estate Community Moving Truck) full of those toys and decorate them in ribbons and candy canes to get them ready for the kids.
